Women’s March Redding donation drive

Date: Saturday, January 23, 2021

Time: 10am – 12pm

Location: Union Hall, 900 Locust St. Redding, Ca

Details: Drive through donation drive put on by Women’s March Redding in support of Shasta Mutual Aid.

We will have some folks directing you through the donation center. Please remain in your car with your mask on and we will unload your donations at the appropriate station. If possible, feel free to have them in your trunk for easy and contact-free unloading. 


Items that are in particular need are:

  • New or gently used and washed cold weather gear for all ages and genders
  • Non-perishable and un-expired food items (cans with pop tops are especially helpful for unhoused folks)
  • New socks and underwear for all
  • Unopened toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner, soap, etc.
  • If you prefer, we will be accepting cash and check donations made out to Shasta County Mutual Aid

All donations will be distributed to local individuals and families through Shasta County Mutual Aid and other local community groups. 


We also have some limited edition new gear for participants. The first 100 donors will receive a WMR 2021 sticker and those who bring 3 new/unopened packs of socks or underwear will get a free WMR tote bag while supplies last. 

Free Community Store and Donation Drop-off

Date: Every Saturday until further notice

Time: 11am – 12pm

Location: 1401 Gold St, Redding, CA 96001 (Behind the Hill Country Gold St Clinic)

Details: Come by for food, cleaning supplies, & other household items. Free and available to all with no questions asked. We will also still be collecting donations so stop by and drop off any non-perishables, hygiene products, diapers, bottled water etc.

Free Family Laundry Day

About: The designated Food Bank for Shasta County. “We provide food for our communities with distribution on-site at our Redding location or off-site at many locations around the county.”

Clothes That Work!

North Valley Catholic Social Service

Needs:

“Clothes That Work! always needs interview and job-appropriate clothing. We will accept any clothing that you would feel comfortable wearing on an interview or job site. We prefer clean, gently worn items; however, any donation will be put to good use. Donations can be dropped off at our store, during regular business hours. Cash donations will also be gratefully accepted. Contributions may be tax deductible.”

Offering:

Clothes That Work! provides two complete interview-appropriate outfits including shoes, undergarments, makeup and accessories, and an additional three complete job-appropriate outfits after employment is found. In addition the boutique hosts workshops covering topics such as dressing for success, skin care, makeup application, color analysis, hair care, general hygiene and much more.

Brake Light Repair Workshop

Location: Pilgrim Congregational, UCC, Redding, CA

Details: Drop in and have your brake or headlight repaired free of charge. We will also have a table set up with some free basic necessities like non-perishable food items, diapers, and face masks. Please wear a mask and prepare for warm weather.
